I really love it when families are willing to let me arrive really early in the morning, before anyone is out of bed. It's a vulnerable period of the day for most people, and the privilege to be able to spend those early morning hours with them is not lost on me. This family is one that I've known for several years now, and when I found out they were expecting their second baby I was so thrilled to be asked to come and document the early days of life with a toddler and newborn for them.

Shire Family Film + Photos | Melbourne Family Photographer

Back in November I flew down to Melbourne to film and photograph the family of one of my all time favourite photographers, Amy Shire.

Beard Family Film + Photos | Dubbo Family Photographer

The whole reason I do what I do is to show parents, (mums especially) how loved and important they are. How all the hard work day in and day out is creating this magical childhood for their children and it's absolutely worth it. My hope is that the kids will be able to watch this film and relive these moments with their parents over and over through all the years of their lives, passing down their heritage to their own grandchildren one day. This is what life looked like in 2017. Wasn't it marvellous?

It's always such a huge honour when a photographer hires you to document her family, particularly for a second time!
